After watching trailers i have realised that they include a film company label, which is usually a subsidiary of a major conglomerate for example Warner Brothers, which is a subsidiary of Time Warner. By inputing these logo's into the films, it not only allows the brand to become recognisable but also ensures the audience that the film has been professional made. The prime job of these distributing labels is to 'distribute' the product/service to it's audience.
After some basic market research i have found 5 main labels in which i may consider for my teaser trailer.
-New Line Cinema;
New Line Cinema is a subsidiary of Time Warner, and a division of Warner Brothers Entertainment. Founded in 1967 it is one
of the major American film studios.
My reason for picking this label is due to it's success within the mainstream media film industry, having distributed a wide range
of film genres and successful films such as; he's just not that into you, final destination and the time traveler's wife. Plus it has many
successful films within my genre also these being; friday 13th, texas chainsaw massacre, and the butterfly effect.
-Paramount Pictures Corporation.
Paramount Pictures Corporation is a Worldwide American film production and distribution company. It was founded in 1912 and is
currently opened by media conglomerate Viacom. It is regarded as the world's oldest existing American film studio, and is considered
one of the top grossing movie studios, which is my main reason for choosing this cooperation. Paramount has had many successful films including, transformers
Coach Carter and watchmen, plus also produced one of the teaser trailers i will be mentioning in a later post, avatar: the last air bender.
-Columbia.
Columbia pictures is also a film production and distribution company and is now part of the Columbia Tristar Motion picture group, which was purchased by Song
Pictures entertainment. Columbia has produced films such as James Bond: Quantum of solace, the ugly truth, 21 and The Da Vinci code, plus has currently working on
a Michael Jackson film and the new disaster film 2012.
- Miramax.
I decided Miramax as it is an independent film company of Walt Disney, and I like the logo which is presented to the viewers, plus the idea of it emerging form the new york building lights. Miramax has been associated with films such as, Becoming Jane, The Queen and The Brothers Grim. Although currently miramax seem to be diversifying into the comedy culture more, perhaps due to the economic dilemma at hand, and the need for positive films within the market!
- Twisted Pictures.
Twisted pictures is a well known production company specialising in the horror/ psychological thriller genre, gaining reputation from
the wide range of saw movies which it's logo was on. Other films include; Motel hell and dead silence. I decided this company
due to it's specialisation and expertise in my genre, i have also decided that I will watch the films teaser trailers that it has distributed
in order to see the strategies it has used.
