Sorority Row theatrical poster.

Firstly when looking at the poster my initial thoughts are that it seems quite dismal and dark. The first thing grabbing the attention of the viewers being the 'strips of polaroid pictures that arepositioned within the middle of the poster, each containing a protagonist in distress.By having mutliple "murder" shots on the theatrical poster, it automatically coneys the genre of the film, and by using such distressing shots, the viewers would want to know why the character is in this position, what have the done? why are they about to be murdered? Who has taken the picture?. This short and sharp shouts, create a significant impact on the viewer. Secondly the strips of polarid pictures seem to be pinned down by what I assume to be the murder wepon, and as I stated in the teaser poster analysis for this film, by having more than one 'end' to the murder wepon, it gives the viewer the impression that there are multiple murders within this film, plus more closley the murder wepon is covered in what seems to be blood, reinforcing the idea that the act has already been committed.

*COLOUR*

As i have noticed within most phsycological thriller film posters, certain colours are often used to enhance the theme of the film, mostly done by using dark colours with a shadow effect. The title is the main peice on the poster that is in different colour to the rest, by having the title in white, it makes it stand out from the rest of the features using a letter from the greek alphabet, makes it more unusal and related back to the greek collegiate sorority system within america. The underlining in red represents the horror part of the film, as red is a colour normally associated with blood, with the title there is also a smaller image of the wepon used in red which indicates what this wepon has/will be used for. A contrast effect has been used in the background, from the top of the poster there is a light brown colour which later fades into a more darker tone this has been used as negative things are normally assoctaed with dark colours.

*FONT*

Sorority Row has been designed in a unique font differing from most other thing on the poster, in order to make it stand out, so the viewer can comphrend that it is the title of the film. Situated at the bottom of the poster is the name of producers etc which legally has to appear on all theatrical posters due to copyright acts. I have decided that this will also be positioned on my poster in order to make it more professional.

*FOCUS IMAGE*

Each of the focus images is a close up shot, which emphaises the emotion of the characters and enables the viewers to relate to the character, placing them in their view. Intrestingly by having all females within the shots, it makes them as a whole appear more vunerable and innocent, and also by having all the female characters within the polaoids it i makes them appear to be related.

*LOGO/CATCHPHRASE*
" the sisters of theta pi are dying to keep a secrect"

"Sisters" emphasies the view that the characters are related in some way even if they are only related on social terms, "Theta Pi" is obviously the name of the sorority" and the "dying" and "secrert" highlights the main themes within the films, when looking at "secrect" the viewer wants to know what secrect this is, plus this phrase is normally used colloquially if someone is dying to know something, to take something that is often used in social ways and transform it into a catchphrase, makes the viewer relate to it, as it is most likley something they have said in the past, this is one of many marketing strageties used within the film.
